Silent Cities

The Power of Listen...

Imagine seeing hundreds of young people, of all different races, religions and backgrounds standing in solidarity as one.

Picture rows of students standing side by side saying nothing.

Visualize the black X's across their mouths and the simple yet powerful words written on their shirts:

HUNGER

POVERTY

EDUCATION

CHILDREN SOLIDERS

If the thought sends chills through the body, can you imagine what a simple passer by'er will feel?

On Saturday November 20th, 2010 from 3-5pm we will be standing in solidarity with thousands across Canada and the world! We will be taking a stand for the 1 billion living in poverty who don't have a voice.

The actually event will take place in Nathan Philips' Square, we will meet at the corner of Bay and Queen at 2:55pm!!!

Please wear either/or:
- a black X across your mouth (using hockey time perhaps)
- a plain white t-shirt with one or two words written on it about why you are standing up! (See the words above)

One of the most important things about this event is that we have as many people out as possible, we would ask that you come out for what is our biggest awareness campaign of the year! Please bring any friends, siblings, ANYONE who would like to join in this event! More people = Bigger Impact.

Nathan Philips' Square is expected to be VERY VERY busy this day and time, with thousands of people walking by!!!

Sign up at I Am Silent, also you can find details about optional pledges on this website. See you all on Saturday!

Halloween 4 Hunger... SUCCESS!

Hey Mobilizers,

There really are few words to explain how amazing it felt to be apart of this past Saturday's events in Kensington Market. Great work everyone who came out we hope you had an amazing time. Thank you to Nandita and crew for doing such a great job organizing the clean-up and thanks to Matt for bringing those inspirational signs.

But most importantly thank you to each and every mobilizer who came out, your passion made this event something special, there were several comments made to group members from people passing by about how inspired they were. One women said, "what you guys have done is beautiful, you have inspired me to be a better person tomorrow."

Details regarding Vow of Silence and the next Community Action Event will be posted in the next few weeks :)

To keep it short and sweet, below is the link to photo's from the event (thank you Daniela), we hope you had a wonderful time and a Happy Halloween.

Peace,
Toronto Mob Core Team

P.S. What did you do for H4H, please send us your stories!
