Here comes the campaigns: Halloween 4 Hunger is on the way!

Mother Teresa once said "If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one."

Today there are estimated to be over 1 billion people who are living in hunger, hearing that number may make you think that it is an impossible problem to solve. However we must remember what Mother Teresa said we may not be able to help them all on our own but we can help some, on October 31st (and the days surrounding it) the Toronto MOB will be collecting non-perishable food items for local food banks in a campaign called Halloween 4 Hunger (H4H.)

*Details for this project will be announced in the upcoming week along with the details of this months Community Action Event.

Are you a Shameless Idealist?

"Shameless Idealists,” featuring candid discussions with the world’s most intriguing optimists and visionaries, will premiere Monday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. with a special one-hour episode with K’naan.

The premiere episode features a remarkably candid discussion with K’naan about his personal journey from Somalia to Rexdale to international superstardom. He discusses his personal battles, the loss of friends, struggles with depression, how he would like to have a cultural impact in his home country of Somalia and how he defines success. “If I was to be successful, Somalia would be at peace,” he says.

Be the Change,
TORONTO MOB CORE TEAM

- Check out a new project launched by Laura F at her school with the hopes of inspiring others to take care of our world! http://www.350.org/lpci

- Brennan W started an amazing initiative with his sister Shannon called "Strength in Numbers."  Their goal is, by sharing their volunteer experiences with Free the Children, to show that each student wields the "Power of One" and as a group we can accomplish big things! They have approached staff in York Region Elementary Schools and asked them to encourage their students to get involved in FTC projects and campaigns. In the future they plan on giving speeches to these schools!

Way to Be the Change Laura, Brennan and Shannon!
